Payment guide
Paying with Bitcoin takes about three minutes.
You do not need to understand crypto, own any already, or set anything up in advance. Pick whichever option below matches what is already on your phone, follow the steps in order, and your order is confirmed as soon as the payment clears.
About 3 minutes
Start to finish, first time.
No crypto knowledge
Every step is written out below.
Nothing stored
No card number or bank details on our side.
If you have never done this before, nothing here is going to catch you out. There is no account to open with us, no minimum you have to buy, and no way to accidentally send your payment somewhere it cannot be recovered from.
We accept Bitcoin over the Bitcoin network. Your payment goes to an address that is generated for your order alone, so it can always be matched back to you, even if something goes wrong along the way.
Which one is you?
Pick the line that describes what you already have. You only need one of these.
Buy your bitcoin before you place your order. Card purchases take twenty to thirty minutes to arrive, and a payment screen holds its price for 60 minutes. Buying first means you are never racing a clock.
Before you start
Set aside about thirty minutes. Most of it is waiting, not working.
Have your ID handy. First-time purchases through any card-to-crypto service require verifying who you are, which is a legal requirement on them and not something we ask for.
Install Exodus or BlueWallet from your phone's app store.
Either one is fine. Exodus if you also want it on a computer, BlueWallet if you want the simpler of the two.
Open the app and choose Create new wallet.
Write your recovery phrase on paper and put it somewhere safe.
Do not screenshot it and do not email it to yourself. This phrase is the only way back into the wallet if you lose your phone.
Tap Receive, then Bitcoin, then copy the address shown.
It is a long string starting with bc1. You will paste it in a moment.
Go to moonpay.com and choose Buy Bitcoin.
Enter your order total plus about three dollars.
The few extra dollars cover the network fee for sending it on. Buying slightly too much is easy to fix. Buying slightly too little means going back and doing this again.
Paste the bc1 address you copied into the wallet address field.
Check the first four and last four characters match what your wallet shows.
Pay with your card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal or Venmo.
Verify your ID if you are asked to.
This is normal on a first purchase and usually takes a couple of minutes.
Wait for the confirmation, then check your wallet.
The bitcoin typically appears within twenty to thirty minutes. You can close the page while you wait.
Choose Crypto at checkout and place your order.
You are taken straight to a secure payment page showing a QR code. That page is where you pay, and you are returned here automatically once you have.
Open your wallet app and tap Send.
Tap the scan icon and point your camera at the QR code.
Leave the address and the amount exactly as your wallet fills them in.
Both come from the QR code. There is nothing to type and nothing to adjust.
Confirm and send.
Your order confirms as soon as the payment appears on the network, which is usually within a minute or two of sending.

If you already hold bitcoin in Cash App, Strike, Exodus, BlueWallet, Trust Wallet or a hardware wallet, this takes about two minutes.
Choose Crypto at checkout and place your order.
You are taken straight to a secure payment page showing a QR code. That page is where you pay, and you are returned here automatically once you have.
Open your wallet and tap Send.
Tap scan, then point your camera at the QR code.
Leave the address and the amount exactly as they fill in.
The QR code carries both. If your wallet only filled in the address, tap the QR code on the payment screen to copy the full payment link, then paste that instead.
Send.
One thing that catches people out: some apps subtract their sending fee from the amount you typed rather than adding it on top, so slightly less arrives than the invoice asked for. We allow a 2% margin for exactly this reason, but if your app shows a fee being deducted rather than added, nudge the amount up to cover it.

What the payment page looks like
Placing your order takes you to a secure payment page. There is less on it than you might expect, and none of it needs a decision from you.
One QR code, and that is the whole thing
That single code carries the address, the exact amount and the payment method together. Any bitcoin wallet reads it correctly. There is nothing to choose between.
Paying on the same phone? Tap the code
You cannot point a phone's camera at its own screen, so if the payment page and your wallet are on the same device, tap the QR code once to copy the payment link. Paste that into your wallet's send field and the address and amount both fill themselves in.
The dollar amount is the one you agreed to
The bitcoin figure underneath is the same amount at today's price, locked for 60 minutes. If bitcoin's price moves while you are paying, what you owe does not change.
A countdown only appears near the end
There is no clock ticking at you for the whole window. If time starts running genuinely short, a timer appears so you are not caught out.
Everything else is behind Details
The full address, the exact amount and the network cost are all there if you want them. You do not need any of it to pay.
The page updates itself once you send
Leave it open. It moves to confirming and then to paid on its own, then brings you back to our site automatically. There is no final button to press.
If something goes wrong
Short version: none of these cost you your order, and all of them are fixable by emailing us.
What happens if the payment screen expires before I send?
Nothing is lost, and this is fixable either way. If you had not sent yet, just start again and you will get a fresh screen with the price locked for another 60 minutes. If you had already sent and it arrived after the window closed, your bitcoin is safe: it went to an address that belongs to your order, and we can see it. Email support@helmcompounds.com with your order number and we will confirm the order manually. Nobody has ever lost money to an expired payment screen.
Why does the amount have to match exactly?
Our system watches for one specific amount arriving at one specific address, which is how your order confirms without a person checking it by hand. The usual reason an amount comes up short is not a typo. Some apps subtract their sending fee from the amount you typed instead of adding it on top, so you enter the right number and slightly less arrives. We accept payments up to 2% under the invoice for that reason. If a payment falls further short than that, we email you a link to send the difference rather than leaving you stuck.
What if I send the wrong coin, or use the wrong network?
This is the one mistake on this page worth being careful about, so here is the plain version. We accept Bitcoin, sent over the Bitcoin network. If your wallet asks you to pick a network, pick that one. Sending a different coin, or sending bitcoin over a network we do not accept, means the payment does not reach us and in most cases cannot be recovered by anyone. The safest habit is the one in the steps above: scan the QR code instead of typing anything. A scanned code fills in the coin, the network, the address and the amount together, and none of them can be got wrong.
What are network fees, and how much should I budget?
Bitcoin calls this the miner fee. Other coins call it gas. It is a small amount paid to the network itself for processing your transaction, and none of it comes to us. Your wallet adds it on top of what you send and shows it to you before you confirm. One to five dollars covers a normal transaction. This is why the card instructions tell you to buy a few dollars more than your order total.
How long until my order is confirmed?
Our system sees your payment within a minute or two of you sending it, and your order starts moving right then. The network adds its confirmations in the background over the following ten to sixty minutes. You do not have to wait for that part, and you do not have to keep the payment screen open once you have seen it change.
Can you see my bank account or my card details?
No. We receive a payment, not your financial details. There is no card number, bank account or billing address on our side to store, leak or lose. That is true of every method on this page.
What if I send too much?
Email support@helmcompounds.com with your order number and the transaction ID your wallet gives you. Overpayments are refunded or credited, whichever you prefer. It does not hold up your order.
Do I need to keep the wallet app after this?
No. If you only installed it to pay for one order, you can leave it empty and forget about it. Keep the recovery phrase anyway, in case you send yourself anything later.
Words you will see
- Wallet
- An app that holds bitcoin, in the same way a banking app holds dollars. Installing one takes about two minutes and costs nothing.
- Address
- Where a payment is sent, like an account number. Ours starts with bc1 and is generated fresh for your order, which is how your payment is matched back to you.
- Recovery phrase
- Twelve or twenty-four words your wallet shows you when you first set it up. It is the only way back in if you lose your phone. Write it on paper. Never type it into a website.
- Miner fee
- The small amount the bitcoin network charges to process a transaction, usually one to five dollars. Your wallet adds it on top and shows it before you confirm. None of it comes to us.
- Confirmation
- The network double-checking a payment after it is sent. Your order does not wait for this. It starts as soon as we see the payment.
Still not sure?
Email support@helmcompounds.com before you buy anything and we will walk you through it. There is no such thing as a question that is too basic here, and we would much rather answer one now than sort out a mis-sent payment later.
